The Faux Flower Company - Stock Manager (Product Specialist)

Role Summary

We are seeking a diligent and well-organised individual to fill the role of Stock Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing inventory, analysing data, maintaining optimal stock levels, and ensuring meticulous record-keeping. Your collaborative spirit will shine as you work closely with team members to ensure exceptional product delivery. Becoming a product expert, you will develop products, pricing and profitability strategies and provide valuable insights to enhance revenue and identify growth opportunities. You will collaborate closely with the operations team, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the business. 

This position requires keen attention to detail, exceptional organisational skills, and the capacity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. As Stock Manager you will work approximately 30 hours per week with the potential for the role to transition into a full-time position based on performance and business needs. 

Responsibilities:

  • Accurate Stock Picking: Ensure precise selection of items for customer orders, picking the correct products in the specified quantities to fulfil orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Quality Control: Inspect stock items for damages or other quality issues during the picking process and escalate any discrepancies to management.
  • Shipping Coordination: Collaborate with the fulfilment team to coordinate the timely shipment of customer orders, ensuring orders are packed and ready for pickup or delivery according to established schedules.
  • Inventory Analysis: Conduct regular analysis of inventory levels, stock movement, and product trends to identify opportunities for optimisation and improvement. Collaborate with the buying team to forecast stock needs and identify potential shortages or overages.
  • Data Analysis: A strong ability to analyse data and trends to make informed decisions regarding stock management, product selection, and pricing strategies. You should have a high level of mathematical skill and be comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets, and inventory management software to identify patterns, forecast demand, and optimise stock levels effectively.
  • Stock Rotation: Implement efficient stock rotation techniques to ensure that older inventory is utilised before newer stock.
  • Stock Replenishment: Monitor stock levels in picking areas and replenish as needed to maintain efficient order fulfilment operations.
  • Stock Ordering: Manage the stock ordering process, including generating purchase orders, liaising with suppliers, and placing orders to replenish inventory in a timely manner.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, serving as the primary point of contact for order inquiries, negotiations, and issue resolution.
  • Price Negotiation: Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to secure the best possible deals and ensure cost-effective procurement of stock items.
  • Lead Time Management: Coordinate with suppliers to manage lead times effectively, adjusting ordering schedules as needed to accommodate fluctuations in demand and minimize stock shortages.
  • Warehouse Organisation: Implement and maintain efficient layouts and storage systems within the warehouse, optimising space utilisation, minimising congestion, and facilitating easy access to stock items to support efficient picking, packing, and shipping operations.
  • Cross-Training: Participate in cross-training initiatives to develop proficiency in other areas of warehouse operations, such as receiving, packing, or shipping, to support team flexibility and coverage.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster a positive and cooperative work environment by actively participating in team meetings, sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues, and providing support and assistance as needed to achieve common goals.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in stock management, warehouse operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (Microsoft Office suite) and inventory management software.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Working Hours:

Approximately 30 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate business needs.
