Why we love it
Three stem types, and the restraint is what makes it. White real-touch peonies with soft, full blooms that feel as convincing as they look. White oncidium orchids — also known as dancing ladies — with their graceful, branching sprays of tiny flowers marked with flashes of deep burgundy at the centre. And Pittosporum fills in around both with its variegated green leaves.
The peonies cluster low and full. The orchids reach upward and outward, their slender stems giving the whole arrangement its height and movement at 85cm. The contrast between those two shapes is striking. One is round, dense and soft. The other is open, airy and almost wild. Pittosporum bridges the gap with enough foliage to make it feel like a complete piece rather than just two types of flowers in a vase.
Up close, the burgundy markings on the orchid petals add a level of detail that catches you off guard in an all-white arrangement. It's a small thing, but it stops it from feeling clinical and gives it warmth.
A narrow-neck or cylinder vase in white or cream keeps the proportions right and the focus on the blooms. Bedrooms, living rooms, entrance halls. Anywhere you want something polished that still feels alive.
